Minnesota
In each of the past two years, hunters in Minnesota have harvested nearly 600,000 roosters, the most since 1964. With favorable pheasant nesting and brood-rearing conditions this year and abundant habitat, Minnesota hunters can expect more of the same. The state's pheasant index remained at its highest level in 20 years, (107 birds per 100 miles driven) topping 100 for the third consecutive year. Protected grassland habitats in the state's pheasant range account for approximately 6 % of the landscape - the highest number in more than a decade - and those areas are the major contributing factor to the increased population. Hunters will want to take note of the southwest portion of the state, where observers reported 223 birds per 100 miles driven; the south-central area, with 121 birds reported per 100 miles driven; and the west-central area, where 118 birds were reported per 100 miles driven.

The lead singer is a gal with talent to do a wide range of favorites and sound like the originals. The guys on guitar are awesome. They do 70’s, 80’s through today’s hits and an outstanding job on each and every one.

We are looking forward to Pheasant Opener next weekend in Western Minnesota and that got me thinking of my favorite Pheasant Pheasts. Here is an unusual one that tastes like Orange Chicken...  Really.  It is good.

• Pheasant Breasts
• Can of Sauerkraut
• 1 1/2 Cups Orange Juice
• Can of Coke

Put all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook for 4-6 hours.

Join Chuck and Watson Hunting Camp Guides Mike and Matt for an off-season Pheasant Hunt this spring.  This weekend hunt includes:

·         Pheasants – European Driven Pheasant Hunt on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  Approximately 150 birds for the weekend.

·         Sporting Clays – Brush up on your shooting both Saturday and Sunday morning at WHC’s shooting range.

·         Meals – Dinner on Friday & Saturday Nights, Lunch on Saturday & Sunday, Continental Breakfast.

·         Lodging – A bunkroom with bathhouse access in the new Lodge.  Deluxe accommodations with private bath available for an additional $30 per hunter.
